Community Outpatient Groups
TRAILS CBT Groups, Caregiver Training Groups, PEERS Group, Emotions 101, and Parenting 101.
Trails CBT for 6th-8th Grade
This group is based on a curriculum developed by TRAILS, a University of Michigan Depression Center program, and will teach evidence-based skills for coping with and managing difficult emotions.
Over the course of 8 sessions, individuals will learn about:
- Anxiety and depression
- The cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) model (also called the think-feel-do cycle)
- Relaxation and mindfulness skills
- Recognizing automatic negative thoughts (ANTs) and how to reframe them into more helpful thoughts
- Behavioral activation: How getting active improves our mood
- Exposure: How facing our fears helps us manage anxiety and overcome avoidance
Who: 6th-8th graders
When: Tuesdays, beginning April 12th from 4:45pm-5:45pm
Where: Zoom
Trails CBT for 9th-12th Grade

The ADHD Brain: A Caregiver Training Group
This psychoeducation group that will teach evidence-based skills for parenting a child with ADHD.
Over the course of 10 sessions, caregivers will learn about:
- ADHD
- Executive Functioning – its role and how it is impacted by ADHD
- How to boost your child’s ability to do the following:
- Get Organized
- Resist Impulses
- Stay Focused
- Use Time Wisely
- Plan Ahead
- Follow Through on Tasks
- Learn from Mistakes
- Stay in Control of Emotions
- And more!
Who: Parents/Caregivers
When: Wednesdays, beginning April 13th from 12:00pm-1:00pm
PEERS GROUP
This is a skills group focused on improving social skills of teens (ages 13-17). Teens will learn the following skills:
- How to use appropriate conversational skills
- How to be a good host during get-togethers
- How to find common interests by trading information
- How to make phone calls to friends
- How to appropriately use humor
- How to choose appropriate friends
- How to enter and exit conversations between peers
- How to be a good sport
- How to handle rejection, teasing and bullying
- How to handle rumors and gossip
- How to handle arguments and disagreements
- How to change a bad reputation
Who: 13–17-year-olds
When: Wednesday, beginning April 13th from 4:30pm-6:00pm
Emotions 101
During this 9-week group, elementary school children will learn skills related to mindfulness, emotion identification, emotion regulation, and self-management. Group focuses on teaching social emotional learning skills to help students with identifying triggers, employing calming strategies, coping skills for intense emotions, and more.
Who: Elementary School Students
When: Thursday, beginning April 14th from 4:30pm-5:30pm

Parenting 101
This caregiver group will focus on the following:
- Working Through the Change Process
- Encouraging Cooperation
- Teaching Positive Behavior
- Observing and Regulating emotions
- Managing Conflict and Encouraging Routines
- Active communication
- Limit Setting
