Meet Benjamin!

Benjamin has been participating and getting involved in all the activities that Easterseals MORC’s Miracle League of North Oakland offers for almost four years. His mother, Virginia, said that her son loves every second of being involved with the various activities the program offers.  

“Benjamin loves to get out and get moving,” Virginia said. “He’s played both summer and fall baseball, been involved in bowling, skating, and fun and fitness programs, attended dance and Christmas parties, and he’s had the opportunity to attend the Detroit Tigers Fantasy camp!”  

When he’s not playing with the Miracle League of North Oakland, Virginia says that Benjamin is a big fan of watching and cheering for all Detroit sports, playing with his dogs, Willow and Lucy, learning about trains, swimming and boating, and cruising with his family to explore new places. Benjamin says that his two favorite sports are hockey and baseball.  

“Benjamin loves learning how to play each sport,” Virginia said. “In addition to the sports, he’s learned valuable skills, including being a good teammate.”  

Virginia shared that Benjamin has always loved to explore and try new things, thanks to the leadership of Susie Glasgow, Miracle League Supervisor, and Nick Lionas, Director of Adaptive Recreation – Miracle League.  

“Easterseals MORC offers a variety of well-structured, supportive, and fun programs through their Miracle Leagues,” Virginia said. “Susie and Nick have been an exceptional ray of light, and their smiles are contagious! We’re incredibly grateful for the opportunities and exposure that they’ve given to not just Benjamin, but our entire family.” 

Easterseals MORC’s Miracle League began over 20 years ago, becoming Michigan’s first adaptive baseball field, in the heart of Southfield. Since then, the league has grown significantly, adding a new field in Orion Township in 2019 and now managing the Miracle League of Greater Flint field in Mundy Township. The program has also expanded beyond baseball, now offering bowling, hockey, and skating skills, adaptive fitness, fun social events, and family gatherings, with even more activities on the way.
