Young Adult Finds Her Creative Outlet and Confidence
Hannah is the founder and CEO behind Hannah Joy Spectrum Designs. She enjoys crafting, especially when it comes to creating pieces for her business, where she creates custom silverware wrapped with glass beads, platters, wind-chimes, and more. What started as a creative outlet to help manage her anxiety, has given her confidence in everything she does.
Hannah currently receives respite and Community Living Supports (CLS) at Easterseals MORC. Her mother, Becky explained that the impact these services have had on her daughter’s life have been the biggest reward.
“My CLS worker not only does fun things with me, but she also helps me run errands for my business,” Hannah said. “I’ve learned everything that goes into managing a business, more about personal finance, community service, and have had opportunities to visit lots of craft shows and sell my artwork all over, meeting many new people along the way!”
Becky shared that Hannah's business has been recently now products in stores across the country.
"Hannah Joy Spectrum Designs can now be found at stores in San Francisco, CA, Long Island, NY, Estes Park, CO, Boston, MA, and in North Carolina," Becky said. "We're so proud of Hannah as she continues to grow her business and as a young woman!"
Hannah’s caring, loving, and compassionate nature flourishes in her family’s church as she spends most of her Sundays caring for the littlest members of the church. In her free time, she enjoys swimming and traveling with her family. Hannah continues to spend her time in the community, working at the local library two to three days a week.
“We don’t let our challenges stop us from making memories and having fun as a family,” Jon, Hannah’s father, said. “One of the things we all love to do is go camping and spend time in nature!”
Hannah’s family own an RV that they take all over Michigan, experiencing all the beauty and historic sites the state has to offer in between and the Great Lakes. Over the next few months, the family has planned trips including a visit to California and a fall camping trip across northern Michigan making multiple stops along the way.
“I love taking pictures in nature,” Becky said. “Hannah’s brother, Jacob, loves swinging in his hammock and just relaxing in the beautiful places we visit where Hannah and my husband, Jon, are always finding a spot to hike.”
Hannah and her family are extremely grateful for the support and development Easterseals MORC has given to their family. Becky explained that Easterseals MORC has helped both of her children, but also the whole family to find resources, manage life’s challenges, and become closer with each other.
“I am honored to be an ambassador for Easterseals MORC,” Hannah said. “They have helped me find my confidence and learn so many skills. I am happy that I am able to give back and help others who may be in similar situations like I was.”
