History

Our History

The National Easterseals began in 1919 with Ohio-Businessman Edgar Allen founded the National Society for Crippled Children, which would later become known as Easterseals. 

Easterseals MORC began in 1920, serving children with physical and developmental disabilities, eventually growing to serve individuals of all ages. 

Through the following decades, Easterseals MORC expanded to provide innovative services at new locations throughout the state of Michigan to meet the growing needs of the community. From providing innovative therapies to help children meet their milestones, to giving adults with disabilities and seniors a place in their community, Easterseals MORC has pursued its growth in the direction of the community’s needs. 

In recent years, with the help of generous donors and tireless advocacy, Easterseals MORC has grown to nearly 20 locations, multiple recreational fields, and co-locate with numerous schools across the state. At the core of Easterseals MORC is a common passion for caring, shared by roughly 1,000 staff members and hundreds of volunteers, and by those who support its mission. This heart-felt commitment to helping people with disabilities and their families is what we are all about.
